Overview of Project

As part of the Africa unit  we will be learning about the Genocide that occurred in Rwanda.   Genocide is defined as the deliberate killing of a large group of people, especially those of a particular ethnic group or nation.  As part of the learning process we will be watching the video Sometimes in April, but before we do we need to understand the conflict.   To prepare for the video students will be completing this webquest and having class discussions over the material.  By the end of the webquest/discussion  you need to know who are the victims and why.  In addition, what role did past governments play in starting the genocide.

If you do not complete this webquest you will not watch the video.  If you or you parents feel uncomfortable with you watching the video please let your social studies teacher know so an alternative project can be arranged.
Standard: 9.03 Evaluate the role of culture and geography on the development and maintenance of societies.
Learning Target 2: How are the 7 Revolutions affecting Africa?
Success Criteria 2C:  Students can explain how the conflict in Rwanda was created over  resources and bad governance.
