Unit 1: Getting Started
This first unit will discuss what makes up social studies. It's important to understand it's much more than just history. Then we will explore what North America looked like before the Europeans arrived. It is very important to understand that the Americas were full of advance civilizations. Some Natives built huge cities and some even developed democracies. In this unit we will examine the different societies. We will examine primary resources as historians to put together narratives of what life could of been like during their times.

Outline of Events (Dates are subject to change.)
August 20: Students receive syllabus, book, and seat placement.
August 21: We read pages 29 & 30 in book and discussed what social studies is through bubble notes.
August 22: Economic notes over pages 26-31
August 23: Ppt over primary and secondary resources.Primary/Secondary Activity HOMEWORK: WORKSHEET 1.1
August 26: Finish activity from yesterday and review themes of social studies.
August 27: 5 Themes of Geography ppt.
August 28: Students work in groups to develop their own country.
August 29: Students present their country to the class.
August 30: Students complete webquest over the 3 Ancient tribes. They will need to fill out Ancient Note Sheet.
September 2: No School
September 3: Students complete webquest over the 3 Ancient tribes. They will need to fill out Ancient Note Sheet.
September 4: Students complete webquest over the 3 Ancient tribes. They will need to fill out Ancient Note Sheet.
September 5: Students worked in groups and completed thinking like an archaeologist notes and ppt
