Unit 2: Before Columbus

It is very important to understand that the Americas were full of advance civilizations before Europeans arrived.  Some Natives built huge cities and some even developed democracies.  In this unit we will examine the different societies.  We will examine primary resources as historians to put together narratives of what life  could of been like during their times.

Success Criteria: Students can .  .   .  .
  • Distinguish the similarities  of the Aztec, Incas, and Mayas
  • Students can look at historical artifacts and put together a story based on the info they learned.
  • Distinguish the similarities and differences between the tribes in United States by understanding the regions they live in and how that impacts their culture.
  • Write a paragraph with a clear topic sentences that compares and contrast two different tribes.
  • Understand what other explorations and events are happening in the world that will set the blueprints for Columbus coming to America.
