This unit explains who came to America, where they settled, and why they decided to come.  The thirteen colonies are broken into three different regions, New England, Middle, and Southern Colonies.  All are vastly different but have some remarkable similarities.  Students will be comparing and contrasting these colonies throughout the unit.  We will also be examining the roots of Slavery in the United States.  Students we will learn about the capturing process and what the middle passage (ride over) was like.   During this unit we will watch Roots episode I to give us a more in-depth view of what life is like for a slave.
